CompuSave Recommended Steps.
1. Open the TrueCrypt program by clicking the "TrueCrypt" icon on the desktop or
in the Programs list.
2. Click on "Create Volume"
In most cases, choosing the following options is recommended:
- "Create an encrypted file container"
- "Standard TrueCrypt volume"
- Click on "Select File"
- Choose your desired location and set a file name, click on "Save"
- Choose your Encryption Options, "AES-Twofish" should be sufficient.
- Create a Volume Size that suits your needs, for typed documents, 1GB should be
sufficient
- Create a good password, using the recommendations found on the "Volume
Password" page
- We suggest to use the "NTFS File System" with "Default" cluster size
- Click on "Format"
- Once the format is complete, click on "Exit"

Once you have successfully created your encrypted volume, you must "Mount" it
with the TrueCrypt program. To do so, click a drive letter from the list
above, and then click on "Select File".
- Find the file you recently created
as your encrypted drive, click "Ok".

Click on "Mount" found of the bottom left of the program.

Type in the password you created for the volume.

Click "Ok".
Your volume will now be accessible in "My Computer" as the drive letter you
selected from the list.
Copy and Paste or save files to this drive as you normally would.
Once you are finished working with these files, be sure to "Dismount" within the
TrueCrypt program in order to secure your data.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to save a backup copy of this volume to a secondary location,
in order to protect your data from theft or hardware failure.
Also, DO NOT forget your password as this will cause your data to be
inaccessible. |
